报告题目：Cooperative Assembly of Magic Number C-60-Au Complexes

Among the many existing techniques developed for the fabrication of nanoscale structures, self-assembly is the most suitable for large scale production with accurate technical control over the structure produced. Most recent works explore the combination of functional molecules and a pre-structured template. In this talk, I will use a specific example to demonstrate the assembly of two-dimensional magic-number hybrid clusters. The content of this talk is based on recent works performed in the School of Physics and Astronomy, Birmingham University, where we discovered an efficient route for the fabrication of nano-scale C60/Au complexes. Using scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM), we can acquire images of the structures and hence determine the atomic scale composition of these structures.
Dr.Guo received Bachelor of Engineering in Tsinghua University from 1979 to 1984.He received PhD in Physics in Lancaster University from 1985 to 1989.He worked as Post doctoral Research Assistant in Chemistry Department, Liverpool University from 1989 to 1993.He worked as Post doctoral Research Associate, IRC in Surface Science, Liverpool University from 1993 to 1997.He worked as Post doctoral Research Associate,in Department of Chemistry, Salford University from 1997 to 1998.He worked as a lecturer in School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Birmingham from 1998 to 2003.He worked as a senior lecturer in School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Birmingham in October,2003.
Highlights of Qualifications:Published 88 research papers. Given 30 invited talks at international conferences, UK and overseas universities. Founding committee member of the Nanoscale Physics and Technology Group of the UK Institute of Physics. Committee member of the Surface Science Division, International Union of Vacuum Science, Technology and Applications since 2004-2009. Chair of the 20th Interdisciplinary Surface Scince Conference, 2015.
