报告摘要:
In recent years, the bottom-up approach known as on-surface synthesis has enabled the fabrication of covalent nanostructures with atomic precision, providing access to key physical and chemical parameters through advanced high-resolution imaging and spectroscopic techniques. Within this framework, the laboratories of the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Padova have focused on the growth and characterization of linear molecular structures, including poly-para-phenylene molecular wires and their capability to form graphene nanoribbons, as well as graphyne and graphdiyne linear architectures. Their structural and electronic properties have been investigated both in situ and through complementary ex situ Raman spectroscopy.
Although covalent polymers fabricated with atomic precision exhibit remarkable structural robustness, their post-synthetic tunability is generally limited. More recently, our research has explored the possibility of exploiting metal–ligand coordination to induce structural reconfiguration and achieve reversible control of covalent polymers after their formation.
报告人简介:
Prof. Francesco Sedona has co-authored around 67 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals. His research focuses on surface science, nanostructured materials, and on-surface covalent synthesis. His contributions span ultrathin oxide films, graphene-based nanostructures, and catalytic systems. Combining experimental methods such as STM, XPS, LEED, and synchrotron techniques (NEXAFS, XMCD, ARPES) with theoretical modeling, he explores molecular assembly, surface reactivity, and electronic structure.
