报告摘要:
Turbulent flows are characterized by highly intense fluctuations, which exhibit a marked increase in strength with increasing turbulence intensity, i.e. at elevated Reynolds numbers. This lecture will address certain elementary properties of these large fluctuations, utilizing data derived from numerical simulations conducted at Reynolds numbers of extreme magnitude. One of the key physical postulates that underpins the study of turbulence is the notion that the properties of motion become universal, i.e. flow-independent, as the Reynolds number of the flow increases. The following argument will be put forward: data from different flows does suggest universal properties of the flow.
